Filter traps are used to prevent lint from the washing process, hair and other objects such as buttons and coins, from entering the drainage system. Filter traps are available in polymer with capacities of 100L – 6000L, and are sized based upon the number of washing machine and other thermal considerations.
Filter Traps are fitted with filter baskets with a coarse mesh first basket to catch objects such as buttons and coins, with a finer mesh second basket to catch lint and hair. The baskets are designed to be removed from the Filter Trap for emptying and cleaning.

3 MACHINE LINT TRAP
The MTFT3M Lint Trap can be installed above ground, internally or externally. It is designed for Laundromats with 3 or less washing machines where effluent temperature will not exceed 40 degrees. The unit contains a single lint filter basket.
6 MACHINE LINT TRAP
The MTFT6M Lint Trap can be installed above or below ground (above ground cutaway image shown). It is designed for Laundromats with 4 to 6 washing machines where effluent temperature will not exceed 40 degrees. The baskets have a volume of 18 litres each.
10 MACHINE LINT TRAP
The MTFT10M Lint Trap can be installed above or below (above ground cutaway image shown). It is designed for Laundromats with 7 to 10 washing machines where effluent temperature will not exceed 40 degrees. The baskets have a volume of 36 litres each.
15 MACHINE & 20 MACHINE LINT TRAP
The MTFT15M and MTFM20M Lint traps can be installed above or below ground (above ground cutaway image shown). It is designed for Laundromats with 7 to 10 washing machines and 11 to 15 washing machines respectively where effluent temperature will not exceed 40 degrees. The baskets have a volume of 36 litres each.
RESIDUAL TEMPERATURE
Managing hospital laundries involves strict hygiene practices that must adhere to the Australia/New Zealand Laundry Practice AS/NZS 4146:2000 which includes thermal or chemical disinfection. Thermal disinfection requires washing a load at a minimum of 65°C and for not less than 10 minutes, or a minimum of 71°C and for not less than 3 minutes.
Lint trap sizing for hospital laundromats needs to include sufficient capacity to allow the wastewater to cool to a temperature required by the local council – typically this is a maximum of 40 degrees.
